Our initiative was founded by five Lebanese and Syrian women. We aim to empower women to participate in public life and contribute to decision-making, both personally and politically. Additionally, we work on fostering community peace, mental health, and psychological well-being for both Lebanese and Syrian refugee women.

HIGHLIGHTS
"Operating in the Aarsal region is a success in itself given the challenging security conditions. We're pioneering women-led initiatives in partnership with large organisations supporting this work. Lastly, we've managed to address women's human rights within communities dominated by customs and traditions."
Women's Circle of Arsal on Taking The Lead
Why is the Taking The Lead network important to you?
"Taking The Lead is crucial for us as it focuses on addressing root issues in refugee communities worldwide, aligning with the change we also aim for."
With more funding and resources, our organisation could...
"contribute to improving refugees' living standards through effective on-the-ground follow-up, assisting them in establishing small but essential and beneficial projects."
A shift from negative to positive narratives about refugees would lead to...
"better lives for refugees and a secure environment where they can progress, succeed, and contribute as effective members of society."
If refugees could influence decisions that affect them, it would mean...
"more avenues for refugees to showcase their talents and capacities for giving, achieving, and succeeding across various life sectors."
OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE
"We aim for broader participation and access for women within decision-making spheres, and to create self-sufficient refugee communities, that are more exposed to the world outside of camps, focused on development, integration, and multicultural respect. We aim to share this success with all refugees globally, emphasizing that a refugee is not a burden but a capable, giving, and effective human being."
